So Familiar (also commonly referred to as Just What I Want) is the name given to an unidentified pop punk song that was supposedly discovered on a Motorola VE 240 in the woods by Reddit user Pax307. The song is likely from the 2000s.

Background[edit | edit source]

On May 10 2024, a Russian Reddit user named pax307 made a post on r/lostwave showing the part of the song being played on a Motorola VE240, which he claimed was found in the woods and happened to still be charged.[1] 3 days later, the user posted the full quality 30 second clip, supposedly extracted from the phone's SD card with the help of a friend.[2]

Theories[edit | edit source]

Possible Hoax[edit | edit source]

A popular theory regarding this song is that pax307 in reality knows the song and made up the details about where he found it. Essentially creating a "staged search", similar to the This One’s Gonna Fly search.

This is mainly because the premise of the search seems rather unrealistic. The premise is that it just so happened to be on this phone, that was left in the woods, and just so happened to have just enough charge to work. More notably though, the screenshot of the phone's SD card that pax307 provided in his follow-up post about the song implies that the song was added to the SD card through a computer, rather than being recorded on the phone itself. If the audio was recorded with the phone itself, it would be in the "my_sounds" or "my_music" folder. However the screenshot shows the audio file being on the root of the SD card instead, which would suggest that the file was transferred to the SD card on a computer.
