Dreams 4ever (formerly known as "La Canción de Alicia" and "Under The Stars") is a solved psychedelic rock song that was popularized on the Facebook group Lost Media Perdidos Posting. On May 16th, 2024, the song was identified as Dreams 4ever by the Peruvian band Bad Influence.

Background (July 2021)[edit | edit source]

Sometime before July 3rd, 2021, a Facebook user named Jitomate Triste posted on Facebook, either in his private feed or in a private group, asking for the song's name. A video edit of the song, featuring footage from Disney's animated film Alice in Wonderland, was attached to the post. Jitomate Tristes' post received little attention and was dismissed.[1][2]

On July 3rd, 2021, Facebook user Daniel Gutierrez uploaded a screen recording of Jitomate Triste's post on the Facebook group "Lost Media Perdidos Posting",[3] which would be reuploaded on YouTube by user Javk Ani- -ZnKyak on July 4th, 2021.[4]

Previous Leads (September 2021 - May 2024)[edit | edit source]

The search gained traction in September 2021 on the Spanish internet, when it was initially uploaded on r/lostmedia and r/lostwave by users Longjumping-Table819 and GameMonkeyDev respectively.[5][6] As the community grew, it became widely assumed that the singer was not a native English speaker and most likely had a Spanish accent.[6]

In mid-October 2021, a YouTube user named 'Yo yoyo' suggested that Chilean alt-rock band Gin & Tonic could have created the song.[7] The band in question was formed in 2001, and split sometime in 2005. In 2003, the group released their first and only album, Free as the Sun, with English vocals and a similar musical style.[8][9]

In late October, some people contacted Gin & Tonic's vocalist, Ricardo Méndez, who confirmed that the song was not created by him or his band. Later, Méndez would record a cover of "La Cancion De Alicia" on his channel, @richardvox, titled "Under The Stars".[10]

Discovery[edit | edit source]

On May 16th, 2024, Reddit user JMike_324 shared his discovery of the song, which he found after showing it to a friend at a university, who recognized it as being by the Peruvian band "Bad Influence".[11] They linked to a post from November 29th, 2018, in which the band performed the song live; the song's name was revealed to be "Dreams 4ever," and was recorded in November 2018.[12][13]

The band's guitarist created the Alice in Wonderland edit, which was uploaded to the Indie 505 Facebook page, but deleted an hour later by a moderator. This is where Jitomate Triste, presumably a member of the page, downloaded and re-uploaded the video.[14]

The following day, on May 17th, 2024, the studio version was found and posted by JMike_324 on his YouTube channel.[15]
