Frozen (also known as "Frozen Heart") is a rock song by Cassidy Ladden from 2010. The song was posted to r/tipofmytongue by Reddit user UnluckyDayOfMe on July 3rd, 2020. They claimed to have recorded the song in a mall they worked at in Russia five years ago (which would've been in 2015 at the time they posted it), and theorized the song was probably created around the 2000s-2010s. However, it was TipoDual who worked at the mall and recorded the song. Along with the Reddit post, UnluckyDayOfMe also provided a snippet of the song.
k In 2021, the full song was uploaded to YouTube by user TipoDual. On July 19, 2024, a video of the song playing in a Moscow shopping mall was posted by TipoDual.
On July 24th, 2024, the song was identified as Frozen by singer Cassidy Ladden.
Background
In an unknown time before the song was posted in December of 2021 on Reddit, Reddit user UnluckyDayOfMe received the song file from TipoDual. UnluckyDayOfMe had previously heard it in a mall in Siberia (Russia), suggesting that the song had been playing in multiple malls. She had been wanting to find the song. In December of 2021, UnluckyDayOfMe posted the song in r/tipofmytongue, stating that the song was playing in a mall in Moscow, Russia and was "heard almost every shift". In response to someone, they stated that the song was likely put into a prepared track list made for the mall's inner sound system.
In July 2024, TipoDual posted a video of the song playing in the Afimall City shopping mall in Moscow. It is unknown if this is the same shopping mall the original snippet came from, or if the song was also playing in Afimall City. On July 24th, 2024, the song was identified as Frozen by Cassidy Ladden.
Theories
Although not much was discovered about this song since its original posting, many users noted that it sounded similar to “BringMe To Life” by Evanescence. One user speculated that Frozen could've been a recreation or "soundalike" of Bring Me To Life due to it sharing the same instrumental structure, and it would be a lot cheaper to get the license to play in a mall than it would be to play the original. If the song was based on Bring Me To Life, it would have been recorded after 2003.
WatZatSong user SugarySweet7 stated that the singer of Frozen was "Leila", but was unable to find any information about her online. They said that they did not remember where they heard this from.
