|Yesterday I found a ticket
For a flight to Brasília
I was wondering why you bought it
Now I just came home
And two (into?) was missing
It's you
Now I just came home
And two (into?) was missing
It's you
Where she goes, I will follow
Into Brasília
Ten thousand miles from home
I've got to find you
Oh, Oh Rio
I'll fly to Brasília
Oh, Oh, Rio
Into the sunshine
Brazilian girls aren’t interested-

Trip To Rio is an unsolved lostwave that was recorded from German radio in 1987, and was first uploaded to YouTube in November 2021

Background[edit | edit source]

In 2002, René uploaded a snippet of the song to his website DeDiniDevil.de. He claims to have recorded it off the radio in October 1987 and remembers the artist's name as Base Bazaar.[1]

On November 25th, 2021, the OP uploaded the full recording to YouTube, and adds that he possibly recorded the song from Radio ffn in Lower Saxony, Germany, or HR 3 in Hesse, Germany.[2]

As of May 26th, 2024, Reddit user MJIgaz4 is searching through the archives and obtaining recordings from digiandi.de, which hosts archives of Radio ffn and HR 3 broadcasts.[3] On May 29th, 2024, MJIgaz4 received two full recordings of HR 3 broadcasts from October 4th and 9th 1987, but they did not include the song.[4][5]

Leads[edit | edit source]

Possible[edit | edit source]

  • Jörg Christian Petershofen: Radio ffn DJ who broadcasted in October 1987 and whose voice matches the one heard at the end of the snippet, died in 2013.[6][7]

Debunked[edit | edit source]

  • Markus Hertle: Radio HR 3 DJ who matched the voice heard at the end of the snippet, confirmed to have never heard of the song.[8]
  • 1st Avenue - Back To Rio[9]: Not the same song[10]
  • Bill Potts - Trip To Rio: Not the same song[11]
  • Faction - Space Bazaar: Not the same song, debunked by OP[12]
