Poor Christmas (also known as Eyes of Love or Come On) is an unidentified synth-pop song that was recorded from German radio in 1987, and was first uploaded to the internet in 2002 by user René on his website DeDiniDevil.de.
Background[edit | edit source]
In 2002, René uploaded a 1:57 snippet of the song to his website DeDiniDevil.de. He claims to have recorded it off the radio in October 1987 and remembers the artist's name as The Face or The Faith.[1]
Between 2007 and 2009, spiritofradio.ca user René R (not to be confused with the OP) uploaded the song to the site three times in an attempt to identify it,[2][3][4] and he was the first person to upload it to YouTube on March 31st, 2015.[5]
On November 25th, 2021, the OP uploaded his full recording of the song to YouTube, and adds that he possibly recorded the song from Radio ffn in Lower Saxony, Germany, or HR 3 in Hesse, Germany.[6]
Leads[edit | edit source]

- Danish Origin: A user named Lars on the Spirit of Radio page states he heard the song in Denmark sometime in the 80s from a concert. However this is yet to be investigated.[7]

- Javori & Co - Your Christmas: Reddit user retrogamer7800 bought the vinyl and said it was not the same song.[13]

Presumed Lyrics |
(Verse 1)
Hear the little boy whisper 'Bout wishes we don't know And see his little sister She's trembling in the snow Beneath your hands, your healing hands Only to survive They've suffered lights and endless nights It's you to help their lives (Chorus) Come on, come on, come on They need your eyes of love Come on, come on, come on Come on, come on, come on They need your eyes of love Come on, come on, come on (Verse 2) No, there's no illusion Just fighting for a say (saint?) They're living in confusion The moment gets one weak I mean to hope, (I wish you hope?) It's working in their way Forgotten pain, this endless chain That's touched your Christmas day (Chorus) Come on, come on, come on They need your eyes of love Come on, come on, come on Come on, come on, come on They need your eyes of love Come on, come on, come on (Bridge) See the blue-green ice The day through it was so nice Please come home And love will reach your door See the blue-green ice The day through it was so nice Please come home And love will reach your door (Guitar Solo) (Chorus) Come on, come on, come on They need your eyes of love Come on, come on, come on They need your eyes of love Come on, come on, come on They need your eyes of love Come on, come on, come on They need your eyes of love |
