Bombs In The Tundra is a solved alternative-rock song by the alternative/indie-rock band Pleasure Hounds. It was uploaded to WatZatSong by user Guglielm in 2013 and tagged as Pleasure Hounds - Opus.
Background[edit | edit source]
On July 27th, 2013, the song was first uploaded to WatZatSong by user Guglielm,[1] before being reuploaded on May 13th, 2014 to add that the song was internally tagged as Pleasure Hounds - Opus.[2] Based on the OP's other found songs, this song was most likely recorded between 1980 and 1984, and recorded from the WFMU New Jersey radio station.[3]
The band Pleasure Hounds has been confirmed to exist, having recorded a similar-sounding demo in 1982,[4][5][6] and their song Opus has been confirmed to have played on July 18th, 1982 on the radio station WFMU in New Jersey, where the OP remembers recording it.[7] However, this has been debunked after WatZatSong user Kurty contacted Yale University, who had a copy of the Pleasure Hounds' original demo tape and confirmed that Opus is a 1:40 instrumental track.[8][2]
Discovery[edit | edit source]
On October 4th, 2024, WatZatSong user tyx contacted WFMU radio host Diane Kamikaze, who claimed that the Pleasure Hounds created the song in 1980.[9] This contradicted WatZatSong user Kurty's previous communications with Diane, in which she was skeptical that the song was by the Pleasure Hounds.[10]
On December 5th, 2024, the song was identified as Bombs In The Tundra by Pleasure Hounds after Discord users Aidnic and rocketballboi discovered a Facebook post from WFMU DJ Pat Duncan, which featured a 1983 playlist that included the song, proving that a song called Bombs In The Tundra by Pleasure Hounds did in fact exist.[11]

(Verse 1)
We're running on foreign soil Design is made to order The jealousy drives them wild Forcing them over our borders (Chorus) Bombs in the tundra Bombs in the tundra Bombs in the tundra (I'm wondering why they play the weak?) (Verse 2) Waiting for the countdown Pulses through them (down to their knee?) I see a tear from the eye of KGB (And to think that it was a contender?) for tyranny (Chorus) Bombs in the tundra Bombs in the tundra Bombs in the tundra (I'm wondering why they play the weak?) (Verse 1) We're running on foreign soil Design is made to order The jealousy drives them wild Forcing them over our border (Chorus) Bombs in the tundra Bombs in the tundra Bombs in the tundra (I'm wondering why they play the weak?)
