Jitomate Triste was the original poster, but they were banned shortly after posting for unknown reasons. This drastically shot down the chances of finding the song, as Jitomate was no longer there to answer any questions.
On July 3, 2021, Daniel Gutierrez uploaded a screen recording of Jitomate Triste’s post on Facebook group “Lost Media Perdidos Posting”, which would be reuploaded on Youtube some days later.

==Previous Leads==
The search began gaining traction in September of that year. As a community began forming, it became widely thought that the singer is not a native English speaker and most likely has a Spanish accent.

The video would be reuploaded onto YouTube days later.
On October 21, 2021, YouTube user @yoyoyo8230 posted the first of a series of 3 videos, titled ""La Canción de Alicia" (Lost Media) Misterio Revelado", each video being only a still drawing of Alice in Wonderland. The audio, although seemingly unrelated to the search, was made up of songs by a long-gone group nicknamed "Gin Toc", short for "Gin and Tonic". In the comment section of the videos, @yoyoyo8230 proceeded to give more details on how he came in possession of these tracks :
I have worked in a recording studio years ago and I have kept a LOT of material from Chilean bands who recorded in the studio : demos, rehearsals, studio versions.

On May 16, 2024 an announcement on Reddit was posted saying that LCDA had been found when the OP of the Reddit post’s friend had said they were friends with one of the band members that is part of the band Bad Influence (now known as “Best Promotions”). A video was found on Facebook showing a live performance of the song by the band. Currently, the band has been contacted about the song, and we are awaiting a response.
Ricardo Mendes of Gin & Tonic initially became a big lead, and one of the members of the lostwave community would reach out to him, asking if he recognized the song. Ricardo responded that he had never heard it before, but that he would love to make a cover of it for the community. Later down the line, Richard Mendez would release his cover of “La Cancion De Alicia” on his channel, @richardvox, naming the song “Under The Stars”.

The search began gaining traction in September of that year. As a community began forming, it became widely thought that the singer is not a native English speaker and most likely has a Spanish accent. This opens the possibility of the song being from a Spanish-speaking country, like Argentina, Chile, Spain and many more.
On 16 May 2024, the Reddit user '''JMike''' shared the discovery of the song. He had showed the snippet to a friend at university who said she had been a friend of one member of the band called "Bad Influence", which according to her, would be the band that produced the song.

In the same day, JMike found a video on the band page on Facebook titled "Barranco, Hipster City", which was a live performance of the song, proving that the band Bad Influence was actually the author of the song. The name of the song was revealed to be "Dreams 4ever", recorded sometime before 2018.

In his short documentary on the lostwave, @YbxrdsGaming on YouTube said that “apart from a slight change in accent, the song sounded almost identical to the original snippet”.
The band's guitarist spoke to the community on the Fond My Mind Discord server, saying they had created the trippy edit and posted it in a Facebook group, but sometime later it had been deleted by admins. This is likely where Jitomate Triste found the video and downloaded it.

The search began to slow down. @YbxrdsGaming says that “Richard’s cover of the song was so good that some people in the community just gave up on the search and settled with Richard’s Under The Stars”.

The part of the community that still wanted to find the original song instead began looking into the edit the song was set to. Most of the GIFs were identified to be taken from tumblr in the early-to-mid 2010s, as trippy Alice In Wonderland edits were widely circulated there due to the site's culture of aesthetic blogs.

== Discovery ==
On the 17th of May, reddit user JMike shared the discovery of the song. They had showed the snippet to a friend at university who said not only had she heard the song, she had been a friend of the band who created it. The band's name was "Bad Influence", who were a Peruvian band who still had a Facebook page (although the page's name had been changed to "Best Promotions"). JMike found a video on their page of LCDA, entitled "Dreams 4ever".

Later the band's guitarist spoke to the community on the Fond My Mind Discord, saying they had created the trippy edit and posted it in a Facebook group, but sometime later it had been deleted by admins. This is likely where Jitomate Triste found the video and downloaded it.

Another version of the song was found on Facebook recorded from a practice session.

Later that day, the band responded to the community:

"In 2019, I decided to make an edit of Alicia using an old demo we recorded and some gifs I found on Google, using Inshot on a 2gb ram phone lol. I couldn't convince the band to post the video on our page, so I uploaded it to the Indie 505 group, which was deleted a few hours later.

Luckily, a user named Jitomate Triste was able to capture the video and, without knowing it, went viral, making all of this possible. Last night, an old friend named Leslie told me that her friend showed her this song and she quickly recognized it and contacted me. I was totally in shock to find out that this song, along with the edit, was a mystery and that it had almost 500k views. I couldn't believe it! We are so grateful to all of you."
On 17 May 2024, the studio version was found, posted by JMike on the same day.

Subsequently, a high quality demo of the song was uploaded by JMike.

== Lyrics (of the Snippet) ==

When I see your face in the darkest night,

I just wanna be only one that change your mind

But my life is real, not a simple dream,

Then remembering that love is a misery,

Oh please,

Let me be this boy

Who you’ll never forgot

I won’t close my eyes,

But somebody wake me up

oh,

oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh

oh, oh ,oh, oh,

Yeahhhhh!

Look at me in the eyes,

Are you gonna stay by my side?

And spend the night together,

together,

together under the stars.

Nobody knows,

You could be the first and the last,

Should we last forever?

forever?

I’ll make you only mine.

Look at me in the eyes,

Are you gonna stay by my side?

And spend the night together,

together,

together under the stars.

Dreams 4ever, previously known as La Cancion De Alicia or Under The Stars, is a solved lostwave of the band Bad Influence.

Background

The song was uploaded to several Facebook groups before July 3, 2021. The lostwave snippet was uploaded along with an edit of Alice In Wonderland. Jitomate Triste was the original poster, but he was banned shortly after posting for unknown reasons.

On July 3, 2021, Daniel Gutierrez uploaded a screen recording of Jitomate Triste’s post on Facebook group “Lost Media Perdidos Posting”, which would be reuploaded on Youtube some days later.

Previous Leads

The search began gaining traction in September of that year. As a community began forming, it became widely thought that the singer is not a native English speaker and most likely has a Spanish accent.

On 17 May 2024, the studio version was found, posted by JMike on the same day.
