Deluded is an unidentified rock song taken from a March 1983 recording of The Dave Fanning Show. It was first uploaded in 2019 by The Fanning Sessions, a blog that received their recording of the song from the Irish Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
Background[edit | edit source]
On March 9th, 2019, the song was first uploaded by the Fanning Sessions blog, which archives recordings from The Dave Fanning Show, an Irish radio program.[1] This broadcast is likely dated March 17th 1983;[2] in this broadcast, Fanning states that he will only play Irish songs,[1] and there will be no demo tapes played on the show.[3] The song's name is not mentioned in the program, as the audio cuts right before he introduces it.[4]
The songs on the tape range from 1981 to 1983,[5] with many of them coming from "Fanning Sessions," where aspiring bands were given a full recording session that was later played on Fanning's radio show.[6] Fanning was known to offer these recording sessions to obscure bands, and many of these bands never went on to release an album or single.[7]
The song first gained attention in the Lostwave community in June 2023, when it was reuploaded by YouTube user q.[8]

Presumed Lyrics |
(Verse 1)
Times where that turn just gone too fast for you to keep pace Saw you lose your grasp Thought we'd be a part of the master plan We aren't planning on sticking with you Poor friend, that's no excuse You lost your hope, and now you need out So, in your future You say all you need is power (Verse 2) I can't believe what you're trying to say It’s different now, it’s never been this way Your pointless cynicism cuts like ice When you're talking, it's a different voice Watch you go crazy, I just ain't got the time It’s better to split for your sake and mine Got to reach out with an open mind Positive action can leave you behind Got to carry it out Seems so real I can almost touch it No turning back, that's it (Verse 3) Not gonna die in this miserable town I have a chance, to cut you down I can't come around to see you no more Something’s going on, can't you see Threw it back, in the back of my mind Waiting forever in silence Deluded Deluded Deluded, deluded, hey (Guitar Solo) |
