Background

On October 5th, 2021, the song was first uploaded to WatZatSong by user sailorfreak, who claimed that the song came from a 1980 cassette tape recording.[1] The OP returned to upload the full snippet on September 10th, 2022, and revealed his source for the song to be a May 31st, 1980 recording of Rodney on the ROQ,[2] a Pasadena, California-based radio program on the station KROQ-FM.[3]

Disc jockey Rodney Bingenheimer incorrectly credited the song as "New Numerales" by The Young Executives, and claimed that the song was "brand new".[2]
