On July 27, 2013, the song was first uploaded to WatZatSong by user Guglielm,[3] before being reuploaded on May 13, 2014 to add that the song was internally tagged as Pleasure Hounds - Opus.[4] Based on the OP's other found songs, this song was most likely recorded between 1980 and 1984, and recorded from the WFMU New Jersey radio station.[5]

The band Pleasure Hounds has been confirmed to exist, having recorded a similar-sounding demo in 1982,[6][7][8] and their song Opus has been confirmed to have played on July 18, 1982 on the radio station WFMU in New Jersey, where the OP remembers recording it.[9] However, this has been debunked after WatZatSong user Kurty contacted Yale University, who had a copy of the Pleasure Hounds' original demo tape and confirmed that Opus is a 1:40 instrumental track.[4][10]

Discovery

On October 4, 2024, WatZatSong user tyx contacted WFMU radio host Diane Kamikaze, who claimed that the Pleasure Hounds created the song in 1980.[11] This contradicted WatZatSong user Kurty's previous communications with Diane, in which she was skeptical that the song was by the Pleasure Hounds.[12]

On December 5, 2024, the song was identified as Bombs In The Tundra by Pleasure Hounds after Discord users Aidnic and rocketballboi discovered a Facebook post from WFMU DJ Pat Duncan, which featured a 1983 playlist that included the song, proving that a song called Bombs In The Tundra by Pleasure Hounds did in fact exist.[13]
