Your Eyes (also known as "Come Back 2 Me") is an unidentified Italodance song sourced from a 2003 mixtape that was uploaded to several Chinese file sharing sites in the 2000s.

A low-quality version of the song was first uploaded to YouTube in 2009 by user DaRioXYK, and a higher-quality version was featured in various Italodance mixes by individuals affiliated with the radio station FM120 in the 2020s.

Origins (2003-2004)

Your Eyes was first uploaded on the Chinese music website 666c.com,[1] 568.com[2] and china57.com[3] on November 1, 2003 as part of a compilation created by an unknown DJ, titled 新歌热舞 专辑 359, which roughly translates to Hot New Dance Song Album 359. The album cover's filename is "DjFengkuang.jpg.[4] The file containing Your Eyes was named 欧美抒情高档 Pop, which translates to "European and American Lyric High-end Pop". The compilation of Eurodance hits, with various dance songs from Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy,[5] appears to originate on the Chinese web. The original upload of Your Eyes was discovered by Reddit user JayRidders to have a PAL encoding, indicating that it was not recorded in North America.[6][7]

Around 2004, the song was being widely shared on Chinese file sharing websites such as hcdj.com[8] and QQMusic.com. This version of the file has become known as the "Low Quality Version".

According to Reddit user SignificanceNo4643, the synthesizer used in the song is a 2003 Casio Privia, which is more popular in the Asian market than it was in Europe.[9]

Rediscovery (2009-2020)

On De OH NOposted the song with the title "Italodance Sconosciuta/Unknown Italodance", believing the song to be from 2000-2001.[10]

On October 28, 2013, another channel called Music Production posted the song, crediting it as "Radio Rise (Full Jack Mix)" by Mistic Moment, and claimed to have created it in the description.[11] A forum post on AllTheLyrics.com by user frantol asking about the song used this title two years before the YouTube upload, implying the 2013 video may have used this thread as a source for the title. In the comments, an apparent Italian DJ named FD440 claimed the song as his own.[12]

On February 1, 2019, Dj JPedroza & MCW released a remix/cover of the song.[13] MCW was investigated and turned out to be Michael Waust, who said he only collaborated on the remix with Dj JPedroza and has no connection to the original song.[14]

Full Song Discovery & Current Search (2020-Present)

On April 4, 2020, the full version of the song was uploaded for the first time by user Johnson Paul, titled "Identify Italodance".[15] This version had the full intro of the song, which was cut off from previous uploads. The uploader downloaded the song from QQMusic.com, which didn't credit the original creator of the song.[16] On the same day, user Aigeng uploaded a version of the lost intro of Your Eyes onto a mix of Italodance recorded off the Italodance World FM120 radio station, with the watermark of the DJ clearly audible. The rest of the song was cut off, but the intro was in much higher quality than had ever been posted before.[17] A comment on YouTube suggested that the DJ in the watermark is DJ BPM.[18]

The FM120 channel was discovered to be a collaboration between Aigeng and DJ BPM, potentially more than two people, as Aigeng's linked account uploaded music to the official Italodance World page on music.163.com under the username HardNoise.[19][20] The DJ BPM watermark appears before uploads of the Your Eyes intro, leading some to speculate that they may have created the compilation album. This was probably ruled out by the discovery of DjFengkuang in the original filename.

On September 2, 2022, user ItaloBoy DJ uploaded a recording of Your Eyes being played from a cassette, which he claimed was recorded in the summer of 2001 on Radio Versilia.[21]

The song was discovered once again in several more Italodance megamixes, including one posted by user papaotaker on August 13, 2022.[22] and another posted by user SandoPlayz16 on May 12, 2024, which claimed to be from FM120.[23]

In 2024, reddit user ACrateOfAle investigated DJ FD440 from the allthelyrics.com post and discovered they had a YouTube account with some playlists, but no further leads were discovered.[24]

  • The Test ft. Rodger - Jungle Eyes:[25] A common suggestion raised was that the song could be Jungle Eyes by The Test ft. Rodger, a song with evidence it existed, but no versions uploaded.[26] This lead was ruled out after users obtained and listened to the track.
  • Gabry-L - Your Eyes (Come Back 2 Me): Hoax Discogs page for the song which was created on March 19, 2015 by user MusikForSale. No record of the song exists anywhere and the poster has added other fake releases before.[27]
  • Che J.T - Angel Eyes:[28] Hoax Discogs page.[29] The song's author, Che J.T., appears to be a shortened version of Che JianTao, who when contacted, had no knowledge of this song.
  • Pietro Bertini, Stefano Mattara, and Luca Verzeletti - I Need You: GEMA entry for an Italodance song called "I Need You", which was ruled out after further investigation.
  • DaRioXYK: The uploader of the song's first YouTube upload claimed to have taken the song from an unknown website, but also mentioned it was already unnamed.

Possibility the Artist May Not Want to be Found

Some evidence suggests that the artist behind the song does not want to be discovered. Music Productions stated that the song was "uploaded in raw format, to defend the privacy of the artist," and the cryptic message posted in the description of the FM120 upload may also imply this.
