Background
On April 17, 2016, the song was first uploaded by WatZatSong user TipoDual, who claimed to have recorded it directly from a mall radio.[1]
On July 3, 2020, Reddit user UnluckyDayOfMe shared an extended snippet of the song on r/tipofmytongue, claiming that it was released between 2000 and 2015 and was similar to Evanescence's 2003 song "Bring Me To Life".[2]
On December 28, 2021, TipoDual posted a complete high quality version of the song to their YouTube channel.[3]
On July 19, 2024, TipoDual posted a video of the song being played in a shopping mall in Moscow, Russia,[4] and UnluckyDayOfMe claimed that the song was played in a shopping mall in Siberia, a region of Russia.[5]
Discovery
On July 24, 2024, the song was identified by WatZatSong user funado2 after they contacted the song's writer, Dana Calitri, who confirmed the song's title as Frozen by Cassidy Ladden.[6][7]
