Elaine was a North German band active until about 1983/1984. The fact they had a track with a similar guitar riff and the strange response from a band member when contacted, raised the possibility of Elaine being behind The Most Mysterious Song.

Evidence and Response to the Community[edit | edit source]

Elaine is a very obscure band with little to no information about them online. However, what information is suggests that one of their tracks, First Thoughts appeared on the album Überdruck (1982), produced by influential NDR producer Klaus Wellershaus. Klaus Wellershaus was a key player in creating Musik Für Junge Leute, the show TMS was aired on.

While the vocals are different, investigators have noted a similarity between the guitar on First Thoughts and that on TMMS , although performances by another singer from the band, Dirk Oliver Stempler, bear some similarities.

Over a year ago, a member of Elaine was contacted, and the response when asked about TMS was ambiguously hostile. They did not provide a clear indication of the band's involvement with TMS and any further contact with any member of the group should not be made without moderator approval.
