Some Die For Money (formerly known as "For My Murder" and "A Dark Place") is a solved lostwave by British new-wave band 3D (A Fish in Sea), which was first uploaded to WatZatSong by user terryh in 2020.

Background

On August 3rd, 2020, the song was first posted by WatZatSong user terryh, who recorded the song on a TDK SA Super Avilyn cassette tape[1] (which has existed since 1974[2]) from a 1982–1983[3] broadcast from Radio Trent, a station in Nottingham, England.[1]

The song became popular on the Discord server for The Most Mysterious Song On The Internet, and a member of the server named Realized Janusz first reuploaded it to YouTube on August 13th, 2020.[4]

Discovery

On September 3rd, 2021, the song was identified by YouTube user Allister Girvin, who was able to identify the song as Some Die For Money by 3D (A Fish in Sea) after seeing a reupload of the song by YouTube user LostwaveFinder and discovered a copy in his collection of radio recordings.[5][6] The song was sourced from the John Peel Show, a British radio show,[7] where it was performed on a "Peel Session" aired on March 27th, 1982, which typically consisted of four songs recorded by an artist in the BBC's studios.[8]
