Background

On August 23rd, 2012, the song was first posted to the New Wave Outpost forums by user Guglielm as part of a collection of lost songs, but it did not gain much traction.[1]

On July 16th, 2013, Guglielm uploaded the song to WatZatSong,[2] but it did not receive much attention, so he reuploaded it on August 6th, 2014, stating in his post that the song was internally tagged as Waiting for a Come Down.[3] Based on the OP's other found songs, this song was most likely recorded between 1980 and 1984, and recorded from the WFMU New Jersey radio station.[4]

According to WatZatSong user tyx, the song features an Oberheim DMX drum machine, which was manufactured between 1980 and 1985.[5]

On June 10th, 2023, YouTube user NY80sTapes posted another recording of the song from a compilation of radio snippets, which is assumed to have been recorded from the same broadcast on WFMU in 1983.[6]

Discovery

On December 5th, 2024, Discord user aidnic discovered a band called "Strike" that aired on WFMU with similar vocals and musical style to the lost song.[7][8] 3 days later, Discord user AzureBlast contacted band member John Costa who confirmed it was their song.
