Break Away is an unidentified soul song discovered on an unlabeled master-tape recorded at Stereosonic Studios, a Chicago, Illinois-based recording studio that operated from the late 1960s to the early 1970s.

Background[edit | edit source]

On May 21, 2019, the song was first posted by the YouTube channel of the archival record label The Numero Group, after they discovered it on an unlabeled master tape from an archive of recordings from the Stereosonic Studios recording studio.[1][2] The studio was based in Chicago, Illinois, and was credited on records released between 1967 and 1971.[3]

At the end of the tape, you can hear the producer ask "Who does the lead on this one?" to which the vocalist responds with "Adrian" and announces the next song as "Love Is You To Me".[4]

The song first gained attention in the Lostwave community on February 5, 2024, when it was reuploaded by YouTube user Ofrix.[5]
