On May 15, 2011, the song was first uploaded to WatZatSong by user babache51, who stated no further information in their post.[1] The OP is from France,[2] and based on their other found songs, this song was most likely recorded between 1967 and 1978 in the United States or United Kingdom.[3]

The song first gained attention in the Lostwave community in mid-2021 after it was reuploaded by YouTube user Lost Music: Cold Case,[4] but the search died down until it was reuploaded by user q on March 11, 2024.[5]

On April 28th, 2025, the song was identified by WatZatSong user ArielT as "Rock Star" by California after searching for the song's lyrics on Filmot, a website that allows users to search YouTube subtitles.[1]
