Somewhere In New York (previously known as "Yo Yo Yo Ja Ja Ja") is a solved lostwave song by synth-pop band Electrafive, which was originally uploaded to WatZatSong by NY80sTapes in 2023.

Background[edit | edit source]

On July 17th, 2023, WatZatSong user NY80sTapes posted the song as a 16-second snippet with no additional information.[1] Based on the OP's other found songs, this song was most likely recorded from a New York or New Jersey radio station between 1980 and 1986,[2] and it may have originally released between 1977 and 1985.[3]

The song first received attention in May 2024, when it was reuploaded to r/lostwave by user Unlucky-Show-3708[4] and YouTube by user VisualConfusion.[5]

Discovery[edit | edit source]

On June 22nd, 2024, the song was identified as Somewhere In New York by Electrafive after Discord user Bloost Media searched "Mitternachtsmusik 1981" on YouTube in an attempt to find a different NY80sTapes song,[6][7] as another NY80sTapes song, "Rita Jenrette" by The Cheesedogs, was also uploaded to the Mitternachtsmusik channel.[8]
