In May 27th, 2023, an ASCAP repertory for the song was found, along with Lamya's MySpace account <ref>https://myspace.com/lamya1/</ref>, both displaying the song as hers. A cross-check shows that she sounds identical to the song and both songs come from 2004. The MySpace page shows that the song is ~30 seconds shorter, but the ASCAP repertory shows two different versions.
On May 27th, 2023, the artist was most likely identified as Kenyan-born English singer-songwriter Lamya, because they have an identical vocal style and they released a song called Foxes In Boxes exclusively on MySpace, which has not been archived.<ref>https://web.archive.org/web/20141103162602/https://myspace.com/lamya1/music/songs</ref>

We unfortunately cannot contact Lamya as she passed away on January 8th, 2009<ref> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamya/</ref> and the only way we can confirm that the song is indeed hers is to contact Carrington Daren Micheal, the songwriter.
Lamya is no longer available to be contacted because she died on January 8th, 2009,<ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamya</ref> and no one has been able to contact anyone associated with her to confirm whether or not she performed the song.
