|On November 4th, 2024, exactly 40 years after it was produced, the song was allegedly identified as Subways Of Your Mind by the German group FEX, from Kiel. The discovery was made by a Reddit user named "marijn1412", who stumbled upon it completely by chance while reading an old archive of Nordwest Zeitung, a German newspaper. The journal mentioned a band that had won a music contest in the city of Bremen, describing their music as "Rock with Wave and Pop influences." This band was in fact FEX. marijn1412 was researching information about old German bands when he happened to uncover the mystery. He then contacted the band’s leader, an artist named 'Michael Hädrich', who had no idea that the song had become an online legend. After the whole situation was explained, Phret and FEX finally gave permission for the revelation to be openly discussed online, bringing the search to an end.

On June 2024, Laila was sent the full recording of the song by a family friend who has it recorded on a CD. She claimed that she might be able to release it "this summer", but this has yet to happen. She later said in September that she would release it in a few months.

Hoax

There are two kinds of Hoax Lostwave Songs. The first kind is when a user posts an entirely fabricated song (either AI generated or their own music) and pretends it is a lost song. The second kind is when a genuinely obscure song is posted and searched for but the Original Poster is proven to have knows the title and artist of the song the whole time.
